Staying on Track

Stewards Log: 9:57:04:05:2010

Hopefully the Goal Positioning System or GPS has helped you to organize your thoughts and energy to focus towards what you really want.   However as we all know sometimes we can get side tracked so I wanted to offer a follow up exercises to help you keep on focus.

When you loose the focus or energy of your goal, that day you wake up and say to yourself can I just roll back over and stay in bed, you need a BOOST, here is a 2 minute or 5 minute exercise (you decide the time) to get you moving.

2 Minute Goal Boost

Call to Mind ONE word that will reflect an important way in which your life would be better if you achieved your goal. Now write down that one word on a Cue card.

Call to Mind ONE word that represents a significant barrier to achieving your goal. Now write down that one word on a 2nd Cue card.

Flip the 1st Cue Card over and write down a second  way in which your life would be better if you achieved your goal.

Flip the 2nd Cue Card over and write down a second significant barrier to achieving your goal.

Now place these cue cards somewhere you will come across them frequently like your dashboard in the card, your jacket pocket, the side pocket of your purse….

…and your off, that’s your 2 min boost.

5 Min Boost

Start by completing the activity above but be sure to write your words and the top VERTICAL edge of the cue card (so it’s longer top to bottom, I recommend black cue cards) in large letters (use 1/4 to a 1/3 of the card for the words).

Now on our Achievement card write down all the benefits that will flow from achieving your goal.  Use both sides, they can be point form, word clouds, or written sentences.

Now on our barriers card write down as many options to overcome the barrier as possible and repeat on the second side as well.

Hope this helps.

Steward.
